so here lately I have become obsessed with taking pictures. I am a wanna-be photographer. a poser really. i have my camera everywhere i go and love to take snapshots. I read MckMama & Pioneer Woman for the photo tips (okay and PW for the ridiculously yummy-high calorie recipes) i have this dream of someday being able to take them for real...kind of like professionally, but i really don't have any desire to start a business (nor do i have business-material talent). but maybe quite my day job to do it? just a thought..i have sooooo much to learn, but i am having so much fun with it in the meantime. this new hobby is up there with running for me - its the real deal. i love it. i really really do.
mat recently got me adobe photoshop light-room and its like i fell in love with taking pictures all over again. it is so fun to play with & tweak my pics. my friends, my friends' kids, my friends' baby bumps, my family, my dogs, & even my students fall prey to being my subjects and letting me "practice". i would take pictures of strangers if i didn't feel completely super-creepy about that. i have a long ways to go - but i thought i would share a few that i have recently snapped.
ps-i'm in the market for a new camera. i love my current one, but i want an slr...any recommendations out there?
Yesterday's school walk-a-thon. Didn't do much walking, but did a ton of picture taking...(and seriously, with kids this beautiful, i could have used a disposable and they would look great!)

A jayhawk bump...

The book club bumps

race for the cure

As you can see, I clearly have a long way to go... but I am loving the learning process! Any tips out there?
You took those without an SLR???? You have some talent, my dear! Seriously! I, too, am a wannabe photographer. It's starting to get on Arle's nerves b/c I'm constantly taking pics of her:) I have a Canon Rebel SLR and love it. I still have a lot to learn about it, but it really does take great pics.
ReplyDeleteEveryone keeps recommending the cannon rebel... I will have to look into a little more! Glad to hear there is another wannabe photographer in the village. I am thinking about finding a class (or paying the parsons to teach me some lessons!) Let me know if you are interested!
ReplyDeleteBethany, your pictures are great. I love the ones of the children, they really capture their true beauty. I wish I lived closer so you could "practice" on my kiddos.
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha! I wish you lived here too... I would LOVE to take pics of your beautiful family!
ReplyDeleteYou have always loved photography and have been good at it....I remember you being great even in college! You have just rediscovered your love and YES, you do have a talent for it! :) I have the Nikon D50 and love it but have some friends who have the Canon Rebel and also love it. Michael said that when he researched, he kept hearing that Nikon is the best but my friends who have Canon's love them too. Good luck! Get your camera and come to Tulsa so we can play.
ReplyDeleteBethany-
ReplyDeleteI have the Rebel and love it! Takes awesome pictures. Let me know if you want to see and I'll show you what I've done. I took a class on how to use it, so if you get one, bring it to Denver and I'll show you what I learned. And, Congratulations! I am SO excited for you guys!
