thankfulness 2010

As I look back over the past year I'm reminded of how very much I have to be thankful for. It's been a hell of a year yet I have so much to be thankful for: A healthy baby girl. An incredible husband. An amazing family. Fantastic girlfriends. It's been one of the hardest years of my life and all of these blessings have helped keep me going on hard days. The bitterness of sorrow has magnified our blessings all the more. I've definitely learned this year that life is what you make it...you can choose to wallow in sorrow or you can choose to be thankful. It's been a year of putting on my big girl pants and putting one foot in front of the other and trusting in something much bigger than myself.

For my baby girl, my husband, my family I am thankful.
For my girlfriends, I am thankful.
For lessons learned, I am thankful.
For hope fulfilled, I am thankful.

Okay on to the pics....
Thanksgiving preparations...(Okay, I seem to not have gotten as many turkey day pics as I hoped)
Getting ready for their secret brine....

We captured a cute pic!!

We went out for a little fall photo shoot while we were in town....
Uhm,  how cute are my parents?!

Love these two...

The K family {sneak peek}

I'm pretty sure these pictures are going to speak for themselves. And I had a ridiculously hard time choosing just a few. Can I just tell you how fun this family was to take pictures of? It doesn't hurt that they are some of our best friends. The kind of best friends that you know you will grow old with and watch each others' babies grow up. The kind of friends that you know the stories behind the smiles.

D&S -I have loved watching you both this past year & seeing what parenthood has done to you. You are incredible parents and wonderful friends. You literally glow with love for your little man. Thank you asking me to take you pictures. I hope we got some that you like.

PS: I'm know you are banking on L's basketball career taking off and paying for your retirement...but after looking through these pictures, I'm thinking a career in modeling for Ralph Lauren is looking awfully promising... sorry, had to say it.

PSS: And let me know when you start taking dowry's for L's future wife.... I know just the little lady...

Baby K: 2 month pics {sneak peek}

 If one thing is certain, it is that this little lady is ridiculously adored. And adored she should be. She is absolute preciousness (is that even a word? go with it...)  Her parents and her grandparents absolutely glow with love for her. I couldn't believe how much she had grown up in just 1 month. We took advantage of an amazing fall day and had fun at the park.

K & G - thank you. I am loving getting to see baby K so often and sharing in her exciting first year!

PS: And are you kidding me?! Baby jeans... one of my most favorite things ever.

{Embrace} the Camera Guacamole, Margaritas and a 5 month old.

This post is the blogging version of multi tasking.

And before you go all nutso and call child protective services on me, please know that I did not feed my child guac and margs. Rather the title sums up the craziness of the past 2 weeks. I, on the other hand survived on a steady diet of coffee, guac and margs for 8 days straight. Bliss.

Last winter on a cold icky day I wrote this blog about my intense need for a vacation. Well that very same night we wound up inviting ourselves planning our Mexication with my inlaws. This little getaway has been the carrot dangling in front of me for the past 8 months. And it was everything I hoped and needed it to be. Ahhhhhh Mexico. Love me some Mexico.

This location is extra special to us because it is where we got married almost 5 years ago. (Uhm I can't find any of our wedding photos right now.....yikes.)

I think several friends thought we were crazy for taking a 5 month old to Mexico but she was a dream. She loved flying so much that she just sat in my lap and smiled.  She had 4 people at her beck and call day and night for 8 days. And she loved every minute of it. She played in the baby pool, went down to the beach and took lots of strolls in the BOB. She got to spend some much needed time with her Grammy and Grandad Good while her mama and daddy got some time together: runs, pool time, strolls on the beach, margs at the adult only (translation "blue hair") pool. It was heaven. Mat treated me to an entire afternoon at the spa. Alone. While he had a dance party with Campbell. We're talking a wrap, massage, facial, vichy shower  & pedicure. Heaven on earth. It was so wonderful I almost cry thinking about it.

As far as a 5 month report, you should know that we've got the following going on at the Good house: LOTS and LOTS of babbling, tons of smiles and giggles and for the first time today at the PAT play group - SITTING UP ALONE. Holy moses my baby is growing up. Next thing you know she'll be walking across the stage at her medical school graduation. Or law school. whatever.  There is no official 5 month photo shoot this month since Mexico was basically a week long photo shoot for her.
Hanging out at DIA. Let's get this show on the road...

The T family: an extended family session {sneak peek}

One of the things that I absolutely LOVE about taking pictures is getting to watch other families in their element. Loving on each other. Having fun together. Being a family. When one of my favorite families called and asked how I felt about doing an extended family session, I jumped at the chance. We had a great time on a *very* brisk fall morning. And can I just say I absolutely LOVED watching the mom love on her family?! It was clear that she is not only proud of her kids and grandkids but she is just plain crazy about them. As you can tell, her smile is absolutely contagious!

T family: thank you for braving the chilly morning and thousands of stairs to get some fantastic pics. I loved getting to meet more of your family and look forward to more sessions in the future!
