we just got back from our little workation.
like literally just got back. we've been in denver for the past week as mat had a conference to present some research at (way to go babe) and we kind of made a vacation out of it, only he actually worked (attended conferences, went to study sessions for boards, met with doctors, interviewed, presented his research to some bigwigs, etc) more there than he does on a normal week/weekend so only 2/3 of the goods vacay-ed. (don't you worry - i'll save the stories and pics for a post later this week) we did have a wonderful time in glorious cooler temps...like low 60s in the morning?! i know, i know. i heart colorado summers. and yes, every morning i enjoyed a cup of coffee (or two) on a beautiful patio, in a park-esq backyard. Did i mention it was in the 60s? Don't hate.
it. was. awesome.
so many of you were so kind and encouraging about our
brutal challenging "character building" journey out there that I almost felt guilty. almost. I mean we were flying with ONE baby. And it was only supposed to be a 1 hour 15 min flight. (it wasn't like I was hopping the pond with two babies {jamie} or flying solo with FOUR kids {jessica} but nevertheless - thanks for the encouragement. we survived - soaked cutoffs & all. the trip home was 1000 times better. I think the secret to flying is to leave on the earliest flight possible. It meant getting up at 2:45 this morning BUT we weren't delayed, i had a happy baby, it wasn't too crowded AND i already have my weekly menu planned, i've grocery shopped AND started washing three suitcases worth of dirty laundry. okay fine, mat did the laundry, but whatever. And i had 4 cups of coffee.
Speaking of menu plans...here's what the goods will be eating this week:
*and yes it's all from Cooking Light*
after a 6 day break from a marathon editing session (5 sessions in 3 days) i just couldn't wait to edit a few of my colorado pics {They may or may not have gotten done before a few clients. but hey, i'm a mom first. just being honest. and those clients' pics will be ready in no time...promise.} any who - enjoy a few pics of the cutest, sassiest baby ever. who has been spoiled rotten by grammy & grandad the past week and is currently in detox to try to undo any leftover spoiling. (and yes campbell, it's totally normal to eat blue cheese, steamed artichokes, beef tenderloin & mussels at fancy french restaurants. don't worry - all one year olds eat like that)
and yes this next one is a bit out of focus. but melt my heart. this little expression pretty much sums up her attitude lately. you guessed it: docile, sweet, innocent and QUIET, very quiet.
And not the slightest bit sassy. nope. not at all.
this was her attire most of our trip: a smile & a diaper. sounds pretty nice right now, huh?
happy monday to you all. stay tuned for the rest of our vacay pics later this week.
Those chunky thighs...they kill me! Aunt CC misses her...and her momma.
